Egyptian onions are a perennial onion also known as “walking onions” because they spread easily from top-set bulbs.
Getting a bunch of Egyptian onions will give you a a lifetime of green scallions in the spring, and small top bulbs mid-summer which are good for pickling. The in-ground bulbs don’t get big and round like standard onions, but they are usable after peeling back the tougher skin.
End of August/Early September, we are currently selling the top-bulbs, ready to plant. This amount will plant at least 6′ of row. They spread rampantly if you don’t harvest all the top bulbs.
